All groups are safe and well and enjoying their last few days of the R&R tours before returning to Tana.
We are aware of the fire at Nairobi airport this morning and will be monitoring the situation closely over the next few days. We will keep all next of kin up to date by email of any impact this has on our plans and itinerary.
All groups have arrived at their first nights accommodation. Today was mainly travelling for everyone, with activities and adventures starting tomorow
The Explorer Belt and Project have been completed successfully and celebrated with parties by each contingent last night. The very nice new toilet in Habitat one has been completed, officially opened and handed over to the very pleased community. Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported to make that possible, it will make a big and lasting difference to the community who are using it.
The project team finished with ‘the spectacular’ an event every bit as the name suggests to bring a final I to the WASH education program of this project and emphasise the importance of good sanitation and hygiene through an afternoon of song, dance, performance and spectacle in Ambohidratrimo.
All, the contingents are now travelling back to the edge of Tana where we will regroup before starting on the next adventure tomorrow with the start of the R&R tours. Groups will be heading to Rainforests at Andasibe and Ranomafana, beaches at Ile St Marie and Ifaty, mountains at Andringitra, canyons and landscapes at Isalo and all manner of experiences and beautiful places on the way!
All the contingents have nearly finished the Project and Explorer Belt Expeditions, tomorow is the final day! Everyone has risen to the challenge and we are looking forward to hearing of all thier adventures of the last two weeks. The project is having the finishing touches put to it ready for a grand unveiling followed by the WASH program spectacular in Ambohidratrimo. All the contingents will then have a well deserved party to celebrate their achievements and new friendships tomorrow night.
The last week has seen some high profile coverage of the expedition in Madagascar with an interview on live Saturday morning TV last week and a visit yesterday to the project contingent by the British Ambassador.
Next week we are off to explore some more of this beautiful island, to the mountains, rainforests and beaches
